Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to everyone who uses Maple Care: clients who post care requests and care professionals who post profiles. By creating an account, posting, buying credits or buying an offer, you agree to them. Maple Care is run by Joel & Nanz Inc., a New Brunswick company ("we", "us").
Free to post. Your contact details stay private.
Free to join. Pay only for the offers you choose.
1. What Maple Care is
Maple Care is an online classifieds board for care. Clients post requests for elder, child, property or pet care. Care professionals post profiles offering that care. Members pay to see the contact details on a listing, the same way you buy a newspaper to read its classified ads.
Maple Care is not an employment agency, placement agency, recruiter, care provider or employer. We do not hire, place, refer, recommend, schedule, supervise or pay anyone, and we are not part of any agreement you make with another member.
We do not promise that you will find care or work, that you will be hired, or that anyone you contact will reply.
2. Who can use Maple Care
You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding agreement. Use your own name and true details, keep one account per person (a business may have its own account), and keep your sign-in private. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
3. Posting a request or a profile
Posting is free. Our team checks every request and profile before it goes on the board, and may edit, refuse, pause or remove any listing, for example if it is unclear or misleading, names someone else, or breaks these terms. Listings marked [SAMPLE] are examples made by us, not real people.
The board shows listings without names, email addresses, phone numbers or street addresses, and places them by town or area. A member who buys your listing gets your name, email address and phone number so they can reach you. By posting, you agree to share them this way. You choose how many people can buy your listing, and we stop selling it once that number is reached.
What you post must be true and yours to share. Keep your listing up to date, and pause or close it when you no longer need the care or the work.
4. Credits and payment
Contact details are bought with credits. One credit is worth one Canadian dollar. Credits come in packs, and bigger packs cost less per credit. Sales tax is added at checkout at the rate for your province. If your billing address is outside Canada, New Brunswick sales tax applies, because the service is supplied from New Brunswick. Card payments are handled by a secure payment processor; we never see or store your card number.
Each listing shows its price in credits before you buy. If you do not have enough credits, you are asked to buy a pack first. The credits come off your balance when you buy.
Every card payment gets an invoice from Joel & Nanz Inc., marked paid. Under Transactions in My account you can see every payment and refund with its invoice, and every time your credits went up or down, and why.
Credits do not expire while your account is open. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and can only be used on Maple Care.
Referral credits: every member has a referral link, and there is no limit on how many people you refer. You earn 1 free credit when a care professional who signed up with your link has at least one certification verified by our team, and 5 free credits when a client or business who signed up with your link posts a request that is bought on the offers board. Each person counts once for each reward, only people new to Maple Care count, and referring yourself or making fake accounts cancels the rewards. Referral credits cannot be cashed out. To earn revenue through a marketing campaign with us, send your business offer to [email protected].
5. What you get when you buy a listing
You pay for access to the listing's contact details and to our tools for reaching that person by email, text and phone. The price is the same whatever happens next. It is not a fee for being hired, placed or referred, and it is not a share of anyone's pay.
The person may choose someone else, decide not to reply, or no longer need the care or the work. None of these is a reason for a refund.
6. Bad listings, refunds and credits back
If a listing you bought turns out to have fake or unreachable contact details, write to [email protected]. If we confirm it, we return the credits you spent on it. This does not apply to a listing that carried the "Verified by our team" badge when you bought it.
Credit packs are not refundable once bought, except where the law requires it or where we choose to refund. When we refund a pack, the credits from that pack are taken off your balance. A refund goes back to the card you paid with, and it shows under Transactions with its refund record.
Whenever we add or remove credits, it is recorded under Transactions with the reason.
7. Contacting other members
Contact a member only about the listing you bought, and only to talk about the care or work it describes. No marketing, spam or harassment, and do not share or sell anyone's details. Stop contacting anyone who asks you to stop.
Texts are sent from a Maple Care number, and replies come back to your account. Texts to a member wait during their quiet hours, and anyone can reply STOP to stop receiving them. Daily limits apply to emails, texts, calls and writing help.
Calls made through Maple Care are recorded and the recordings are kept for one year, so we can look into complaints and keep members safe. The person you call hears who is calling and chooses whether to take the call.
Writing help suggests a message for you. You are responsible for what you send.
8. Safety and your own checks
You are responsible for choosing who you hire or work for. Before arranging care, check identity and references, and for elder or child care ask for a current vulnerable sector check. Badges show only what they say: a confirmed phone number, a name we checked, or a document our team looked at, with its expiry date. A badge is not an endorsement or a guarantee.
Any agreement is between you and the other member, including pay, hours, taxes, insurance, employment standards, and whether the work is employment or a contract for services. Our free care agreement template can help, but it is not legal advice.
9. What you must not do
Do not post false or misleading listings, pretend to be someone else, or post for someone without their permission. Do not copy or collect listings or contact details by automated means, resell access, try to get around payment, or use Maple Care for anything unlawful, including discrimination that human rights law forbids. We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms.
10. Our responsibility
We work to keep Maple Care running and its listings honest, but the service is provided as it is. We are not responsible for what members say, do or fail to do, or for any care, work or payment between members. As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your province.
11. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by writing to [email protected]. Unused credits are not paid out in cash, except where the law requires it. If we close an account because it broke these terms, its unused credits end. Records we must keep, such as invoices, are kept after an account is closed. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of this page shows the current version. If a change matters to you, we tell you by email before it applies. Using Maple Care after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Questions about these terms: [email protected]. Maple Care is owned by Joel & Nanz Inc. of New Brunswick.
